Nuclear Energy

William Kurisko

Nuclear energy transfers into usable energy

  • Nuclear energy is transfered into usable energy by using uranium rods as fuel which generates heat that generates by nuclear fission.
  • Carbon dioxide gas or water is pumped through the reactor to take the heat away, this then heats water to make steam.

This type of energy used today

  • The steam which is made from the hot water, drives turbines that drive generators.

    Advantages using nuclear energy

  • Nuclear power costs about the same as coal, so not expensive.
  • Nuclear energy is reliable.

Disadvantages using nuclear energy

  • Not much is produced, its very dangerous.
  • Nuclear power is reliable but alot of money is spent on safety.

Non-renewable
